The area around Sentier, Etienne Marcel and leading all the way up to Les Halles is, in my opinion, one of the best shopping districts in Paris. Here one can find a wide selection of stores offering trendy street fashion for men women and even kids. There are also several famous ‘fripperies’ or thrift shops like Kiliwatch and EPISODE or the smaller ones like Le Troc de Montorgueil. Art dealer, Kamel Mennour, hosts various prominent contemporary artists, many photographers, in his airy gallery housed in a Parisian hotel particulier. Larry Clark, David LaChapelle, Alberto Garcia-Alix have all graced his walls.

12th September will be the ten year anniversary of his gallery opening and partnering with the neighboring gallery KREO, group showcalled  “10 printemps en automne” will mark the occasion and retrace the artistic history of the gallery .

Current and back issues of PURPLE, ACNE PAPER, A MAGAZINE, BANG BANG, LIVRAISON can be found here along a wide selection of art books, guides, artist catalogs and unique nothings. “Would I like this in my home?” This is what Bénédicte Chevallier asks about every items she displays in her boutique. And the pastel-hued treasures she collects create an ‘English Rose’ universe of tiny angel wings, hearts and freshened up furniture pieces from the century past.

This is a wonderful place to get unique house warming or baby shower gifts, even with just 10 euros in your pocket. And do not be surprised if you stumble in and see wine being offered. This is also a spot to buy and taste exotic wines in Paris.

Finally, “Atelier” is for the painting workshops for kids Bénédicte hosts and “Pablo” is for one of her beautiful two boys.

A little place of gourmet wonders to enjoy directly or take away.

Presentation

It is difficult to bring oneself to use words like ‘wine shop’ or ‘delicatessen’ to describe a place such as this. Originally, a creamery dating back to the 1880’s, this tiny place is now an ‘epicerie fine’ where one can purchase Spanish ‘jamon’ & ‘chorizo’, French farm cheeses, artisan olive oils, balsamic vinegars and rare spices. It is  also an impressive exclusively organic ‘caves à vin‘ curated by the owners, wine lovers and architects in their previous lives. The best part of LA CREMERIE are the 8 tables or so, allowing one to enjoy a nice simple meal directly in this warm convivial art nouveau atmosphere. Reservations are recommended.

From perfumes to toys to designer furniture to flowers… from stellar designers like Stella McCartny and YSL or Azzaro to upcoming new talents this store has something for everyone. As it just opened the crowds on the weekend can be pretty overwhelming so better to go during the week.
