Most people walk or take the metro. It is a relatively safe city. The same tickets can be used for the bus, the metro and the tram.
1.WALK – the most pleasant!
Helpful info:
- It takes about 2 hours to walk all the away across Paris
-Especially in the center, distances are much shorter than they seem
2. METRO – quick and convenient!
Cost: 1, 60 euros per ticket; Pack of ten tickets – 11, 40 euros; 1 to 5 day passes are also available called “ParisVisit”

-Don’t be surprised if not every station has staffed kiosks to sell tickets or even automated ticket dispensers
-Keep your ticket with you –there ARE controls!
-The metro runs from about 5:30 to 01:00 ?(until 2:00 on Saturday nights)
-You can get a free metro map from the kiosk attendant
3. VELIB’ – public bicycles with automatic pick up and drop off stations

Cost: FREE for rides 30 minutes or less; 0,50 cents per 50 minutes; 3 euros per 1,5 hrs and 4 euros for each additional 30 minutes

-Check the tires, chain, seat etc, before choosing a particular bike number
-It is 150 euros if you don’t return the bike
-On sunny days, late nights, and in popular areas you may have to walk around to find a bike available
-Sometimes the stations break….oops
4. TAXI – comfortable and not too expensive, especially at night!
Cost: a fifteen-minute ride is about 10 euros
Helpful info:
-Make sure to use only the official taxis with lights and meters
-Paris taxi drivers are not all rude and are not all friendly
-Taxi stations are sometimes NOT the best places to get a taxi
