Paris districts

There are 20 “official” districts of Paris. Each has its own postal zip code. For example the 1^st arrondissment has a postal code of 75001 while the 20^th arrondissment has a postal code of 75020.

When speaking about Paris neighborhoods though, both, arrondissments and neighborhood names are used.

Also often heard are the terms ‘la rive gauche’ and ‘la rive droite’ signifying the left and the right bank with the former being more bourgeois and the ladder more popular.
