Betty is a lovely lady with a sunny disposition, her little restaurant is too! During the day the room is filled with light streaming through the gorgeous ceiling-reaching windows and Betty is seen running around and presenting the daily Portuguese-accented creations like black ink risotto and scallops or the Portuguese version of flan.

To eat well in Paris, truly well, one must be willing to go away from the main areas and visit the small ‘neighborhood’ restaurants that survive on their quality meals rather than the steady flow of one-time visitors. This bistro is the perfect example of this fact! The decor is classic warm and inviting. The wait staff, dressed in starched white aprons, are pleasant and efficient. The menu is based on ingredients ”du terroir”  and includes a set of daily specials like traditional blood sausage, hearty stews or whole fresh fish, and regular dishes like duck, steak, salmon tartar or classic french salads. Additionally, there is a fresh seafood menu, a large selection of wines and a cheese cave. An average meal with a starter and one glass of wine is 30 euros. It will be hard to save room for dessert but their fondant au chocolat is to die for. If you overeat, you can always take a rest before moving on in the small art-deco park just in front of the cafe, take some sun on the park bench and practice your own chantefables.

This cosy hole in the wall is the perfect place to get a nice hot meal on a rainy day. Colleagues who are also friends are often found here catching up for lunch. Coffee and a glass of wine is included in the 10 euros “formule.”

MAma Shelter is equally  a great hotel, restaurant and cocktail bar and for now it is the incognito answer to Hotel Costes.

If coming for dinner, make a reservation… a few days in advance! Once inside the brand new building you will find a Starck-ly decorated low lit dining area with chic couches and picnic tables. The menu seems simple and hardy  – duck parmentier, lentilles, chicken, salad, baba rum -but the fresh ingredients really make every dish simply outstanding! Best of all, just like at home, everything is served in cast iron pots and shared.

Coming over for cocktails and the lounge parties is not a bad idea either. Professional barmen  make extraordinary concoctions with everything from goose berries, cucumbers to avocadoes, aloe and fine spirits. The crowd is chic and glamorous. When you need a cigarette break, a heated terrace is steps away.

The hotel rooms are equipped with a Mac and some with a kitchenette and start at 79 euros for a single. In total, 172 rooms available.
